Classes
We teach eight week evening classes at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. The classes run one evening a week Monday to Thursday. We also teach half day, one day, and two day workshops on Saturdays and Sundays at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels.

Below are quick outlines of our curriculum. Intermediate and advanced classes can be tailored to suit your instructional needs. The images of student work show the diversity of skills learned and the quality of work produced in Jewel Envy classes!

Introductory Fabrication Class

Learn basic goldsmithing techniques including: piercing, filing, forming, soldering, finishing, making your own findings and much more. In this class you complete 3 projects in sterling silver: a band ring, a cuttlefish casting, and a project of your choice based on the skills you learn each week. No experience necessary.

Intermediate Fabrication Class

In this class you continue to develop the skills learned in the previous class and learn new skills that include: dapping, making dies for the hydraulic press, soldering hollow forms, bezel setting round cabochons and round faceted stones. In this class you make 2-3 projects based on the complexity of your design. You must have taken at least one fabrication class (here or somewhere else).

You have the chance to cast your own pieces using a centrifugal casting machine. You make 3 projects in this class: a ring, a textured piece and a final project of your choice based on the skills you learn. No experience necessary.

Intermediate Casting Class

In this class you continue to develop the skills learned in the previous casting class. You learn about designing a project with multiple pieces. You can incorporate other techniques into this class to suite your designs. You must have taken at least one casting class (here or somewhere else) as well as a fabrication class (here or somewhere else).
