Emily Gill grew up in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. She attended Concordia University in Montreal for two years where she studied object and graphic design and developed a strong appreciation for materials and craftsmanship. She transferred to NSCAD University, Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2006 specifically to explore an interest in jewellery making and completed her BFA in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing in 2009. Having worked in greenhouses and flower shops for nearly ten years, her work, playful and alive with colour, is informed by a long time curiosity for biology, plant sciences and the natural world. Emily has participated in local shows as well as many exhibitions and has received numerous awards for her work. Now living in Toronto, she continues to work and develop her line of enameled jewellery at Jewel Envy studio.
