DESCRIPTION:This class is to be taken in conjunction with the 8 week Gem Setting Class starting on Tuesday October 17th\, 2023. If you sign up for the 8 week gem setting workshop and do not have prior jewellery making experience you will need to take this class so that you can learn how to emery and polish the cast kit you will be using to learn to set gems with. These skills are not taught in the 8 week class and those who do not take the prep day class are expected to be able to finish the cast pieces on their own outside of class time. You will need to pay for this class and the 8 week gem setting class in full with the gem setting kit by the start of this class.

SUMMARY:2 Day Gem Cutting and Setting Saturday and Sunday April 13th and 14th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Day 1 is gem-cutting cabochons. Day 2 is bezel setting a round or oval cabochon gem. This class has an additional material fee of $35 plus hst and includes up to 10 grams of sterling silver. \nStudents can choose to sign up for the 2 days and cut gemstones for both days (this must be organized at the time of sign up). \nStudents can choose to sign up for either single day- please use the single day registration form.

DESCRIPTION:A gemstone will be provided. If you would like to use your own stone it must be a cabochon that is round or oval\, with a flat bottom and rounded top. The stone must have a hardness of 7 on the Moh’s scale. If you are unsure please check the stone with us!
