Jewel Envy was established in 2006 as a studio/boutique store located at Spadina and Adelaide.
After six successful years in this location Jewel Envy was at capacity for membership, classes, and had outgrown the retail space. In the summer of 2012, Gillian E. Batcher the founder of Jewel Envy, purchased a century home in the Roncesvalles Village in Toronto and began restoring the historical design elements while incorporating a modern aesthetic to the space. After an intense three month renovation Jewel Envy relocated to its new permanent home with over 2000 square feet of retail and studio space.
The retail boutique sells only work made on site by Jewel Envy’s resident goldsmiths.
These goldsmiths also make custom work, do repairs and redesigns of your old jewellery. Resident jewellers have the opportunity to teach jewellery classes evenings and weekends.
Jewel Envy is the only private studio in Toronto that has long term bench rental for professional goldsmiths, short term rentals, classes taught exclusively by the resident jewellers, and sells only work made by the resident goldsmiths.
This infrastructure allows us to customize both your jewellery and experience at Jewel Envy so that we can exceed your expectations. Visit us to create your own Custom Jewellery Design in Toronto!
Jewel Envy has just completed an expansion to our space by adding a shipping container. Reusing something that could no longer be used for its first purpose of sea travel was integral to the concept development for the addition. The addition would then be used to expand work space for goldsmiths, more specialized equipment, as well as provide more opportunities for the community to take part in classes- including the launch of children’s classes (currently under development).
