Shafiq Sarwari is a jewelry artist and designer from Afghanistan. In 2009 he started learning goldsmith at the Turquoise Mountain Institute in Kabul when he was only 17 years old. After graduating in 2012 from the Turquoise Mountain Institute with a degree he continued to pursue his craft and set up his own jewelry business called Blue Diamond Jewelry in the old city of Kabul. His first collection was a collaboration with Hattie Reckards a UK based designer to create a contemporary collection using indigenous stones and geometric patterns. Additionally he worked with jewelry designers such as Zara Simon, Vicki Serge Jenny Bird on international labels such as Bajalia, MADE, Far+Wide collective and Ishkar.
In 2016 he moved from Afghanistan and settled in Toronto where he continues to do product development for Jenny Bird while starting to build a new collection under his own label Shafiq’s Jewelry.
