Hello,
Wondering if you do say private classes – it would be for my daughter who is 14yrs old.
She takes a real interest in jewelry – making beaded bracelets etc.
Thank you for your question. We find private classes are best suited to something project specific when a student already has some skills in place and then we help them create the specific thing they may not know quite how to accomplish. This is different than a regularly occurring class when we are teaching skills from scratch.
With a beading foundation she may be interested in learning new skills to incorporate or as an opportunity to see if this is a potential career path after high school (there are many programs in metalsmithing in Canada with GBC and OCADU in Toronto both having amazing programs).
We do have 2 types of group classes for her age group.
- a party style class for a group of 6 or more people aged 10-15. This is a 3 hour session with the group being organized by you or you and other guardians. The project can either be enamelling or cuttlefish casting (everyone needs to do the same technique) decided in advance and one adult must be present in addition to our instructors. The price is $65 plus hst per student and all materials are included.
- We have an adult and teen 6 week sampler class for ages 12-16 for teens. This is a 6 week once a week evening class 6:30-9:30pm. Everyone makes 3 projects and we sample different ways of making jewellery. We teach wax carving and casting (this is a ring project), embossing and riveting (usually a pendant, keychain or earrings), enamelling (usually a pendant or earrings). The price is $385 plus hst, all materials are included and there is a maximum of 3 teens to one guardian. We need a minimum of 4 people to run this class.
Come in anytime to see samples from classes and further discuss how we can support her learning more about jewellery making!
