Special Event Sunday

Time is running out to purchase work of Ivane Thiebaut’s Canadiana series, June’s featured work on the recently added Jewel Envy online shop. As a recent newcomer to Canada, Ivane fully embraces her new home’s landscapes, icons and culture and draws on them for inspiration in her design and jewelry work. Each piece in her collection acts as a glimpse into her relationship with her surroundings and are easily relatable to all who have visited this beautiful country, or are lucky enough to call it home.

Image includes: Postcard Bracelet, Antler Necklace and Canoe Cufflinks.
Take a closer look under the “shop” page.

Ivane’s pieces are both timeless and fashionable,  and perfect to commemorate Canada’s 150th aniversery.

Rubies – sapphires by another name.

Did you know that rubies are the same gem as a sapphire? Both the well known blue sapphire and red ruby are commercial gem names for corundums. Rubies may be any shade of red, from pinkish to purplish or brownish red, depending on the chromium and iron content of the stone. And although sapphires are known as a blue gem, they come in all colours of the rainbow. Check out a few variations of rubies along with some of our goldsmith’s work featuring the gem just below.

JEWELLERY, NATURALLY

Hi all! Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather these days – it sure took its sweet time getting here! If you’re anything like me, then you love getting outdoors this time of year. Enjoying nature without the confines of parkas and mitts and hats and scarves (etc…) is just the best. There is so much beauty to be found once the snow melts!
There is also so much inspiration to be found in nature, especially for designers like us. These pieces are just a few examples of the jewellery that use nature as their muse, and of course they are all available here at the studio:)

Roncy Rocks!

Hello Saturday Readers,

Today is the annual Roncesvalles neighborhood street festival known as Roncy Rocks. There are special events, artisans, performers, and sidewalk sales all taking place along Roncy and the blocked off side streets.

I love a good festival and hope to catch the tail end of events after I close the store later today. I have to say this street and neighborhood “rock” all year round so if you have time today head on down for the festival but if not today don’t worry we rock every day of the year out here in the west end of downtown Toronto!

Oh Canada!  You have never looked so good!

Custom Sterling Silver Maple Leaf Brooch by atelier J-Micheline Roi

This July 1 Canada celebrates the 150 anniversary of our confederation. And there has never been a better time to support our Canadian goldsmiths and designers. We all get inspiration from where we live and what we see unfold around us.

One such designer is Anneke van Bommel of Touch the Dutch. Anneke’s work is original, beautifully made, and the design of her Canadiana line is executed with a small wink to all of us in Canada.

Anneke van Bommel’s sound advice given by Canada’s very own Mounties

My favourite of all Anneke’s Canadiana pieces harkens back to when Trudeau was our Prime Minister–Pierre Elliot, the father of Justin!  It perfectly encapsulates the Canadian attitude of following tradition yet moving forward into the future and features Trudeau’s iconic pirouette behind the back of Queen Elizabeth II.
