Stay Cool – Come view jewellery

Well, it seems that summer is well and truly here, with the summer solstice a couple of days ago, the recent strawberry moon (I didn’t know such a thing existed!) and the heat wave we’ve had, we hope you’ve all been keeping your cool! It’s nice and cool in the studio – so if you’re out and about in Roncy, it’s a good time to come see what’s new in the bubbles, or have a chat to us about your repair or custom piece you’ve been thinking about for a while!

Have a piece you’ve been thinking about for a while? A client had this lovely coffin-shaped lapis kicking around their drawer at home, and decided it was time to do something with it, so we made them this lovely statement ring in sterling silver!

Happy Saturday!

Special Event Sunday

Time is running out to purchase work of Ivane Thiebaut’s Canadiana series, June’s featured work on the recently added Jewel Envy online shop. As a recent newcomer to Canada, Ivane fully embraces her new home’s landscapes, icons and culture and draws on them for inspiration in her design and jewelry work. Each piece in her collection acts as a glimpse into her relationship with her surroundings and are easily relatable to all who have visited this beautiful country, or are lucky enough to call it home.

Image includes: Postcard Bracelet, Antler Necklace and Canoe Cufflinks.
Take a closer look under the “shop” page.

Ivane’s pieces are both timeless and fashionable,  and perfect to commemorate Canada’s 150th aniversery.

JEWELLERY, NATURALLY

Hi all! Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather these days – it sure took its sweet time getting here! If you’re anything like me, then you love getting outdoors this time of year. Enjoying nature without the confines of parkas and mitts and hats and scarves (etc…) is just the best. There is so much beauty to be found once the snow melts!
There is also so much inspiration to be found in nature, especially for designers like us. These pieces are just a few examples of the jewellery that use nature as their muse, and of course they are all available here at the studio:)
Perfect little sterling fish, standing guard over an oceanic turquoise.
Pendant by Glaciale by Alexis Kostuk $250

Sweet little golden hummingbirds, with blue diamond eyes.
Stud earrings by Pash by Gillian Batcher $775
If leaves can’t be green, let them be silver and gold!
Gold-filled drop-chain earrings $90 and sterling pendant $75, both by Ivane Thiebaut

Wear nature on your sleeve (or your lapel, collar, etc…)
Sterling silver leaf brooches by Jerell Reichert, $180 each

New Designs growing in the quiet of January

New Designs growing in the quiet of January

Helena Perez Lafaurie’s new work

January is a quiet time for
goldsmiths.  The Christmas rush is over
and Valentine’s Day seems a long way off.
But don’t let our quietness fool you.
Like so many things in winter we are working quietly away in the dark
and cold ready to spring forth with new growth.
One such goldsmith is Helena Pérez
Lafaurie. She has spent January working on new pieces for her eponymous
jewellery line. Like many of us Helena can’t keep her mind off of the warmth
and sun of Spring and this can be seen in her new work called, of course,
“Spring.”

“Spring” bracelet in silver and Agatha, length 7
inches, price $165

“Spring” necklace in silver and Agatha, length 33
inches, price $220

The line was inspired by the agate
stones seen in both the necklace and bracelet, “The agate looks like blossoms
to me, I miss the spring so much, the flowers, the sun…,”she trails off, misty
eyed.  Between you and me, I think the
line is inspired by her soon-to-be-born first grandson!

Helena’s second set of new pieces is
called “Charms.” As all of us at Jewel Envy can testify, Helena LOVES little
things that shine and make noises.

Necklace in silver, length 33 inches,
price $166
Bracelet in silver, length 7 inches,
price $105
When Helena is in the studio, her ever-present
stacked silver bracelets are in constant movement and making sound much like
this new necklace and bracelet will when worn—they are sure to attract the
attention of the new grandson!

Everybody meet Helena!!!

Oh hello there, Helena!
Helena Perez-Lafaurie is a Jewel Envy goldsmith after my own heart. She designs
these chunky sterling rings that are pretty much everything I look for in a chunky
sterling ring.
Some are classic chunky, and some have a big, beautiful onyxs.
Some have colourful and sparkly stones.
And others still have texture and great detail.
Each ring has a bold, strong shape that really accentuates the attention to detail. They are heavy, but so comfortable on my finger it’s almost like they were made just for me. Helena does custom work, so she can make one just for you, too!
